We've made it as simple as possible. Here's exactly what to expect from start to finish.
Tell Us About the Car
Fill out the online form. It takes about five minutes and you do not need to know everything about the vehicle.

We Review and Reach Out
We look at the year, make, model and condition, and someone contacts you within five business days to confirm the details.
We may ask for photos or a quick look at the car.
Paperwork and Transfer
We handle the title transfer and the required DMV paperwork. You receive a tax deductible donation receipt for your records.

Donor FAQ
What condition does my car need to be in?
We generally accept vehicles that are in safe, running condition. We do a basic assessment to ensure the car will be reliable for its new owner. Contact us if you're unsure about your vehicle.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Hope Drives is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 33-1481879. Vehicle and cash donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law, and you will receive written acknowledgment for your records. For vehicle donations we issue IRS Form 1098-C where required.
How long does the process take?
From initial contact to completed transfer, most vehicle donations are completed within 1 to 2 weeks. Cash donations are processed immediately.
Can I choose who receives my car?
While we can't guarantee a specific match, you can share any preferences and we'll do our best to honor them. All recipients are carefully vetted.
Do I need to deliver the car?
In many cases we can arrange pickup. Reach out to discuss logistics based on your location.
What happens to a car you can't use?
If a donated vehicle isn't safe or economical to repair, we'll tell you honestly. With your permission we may use it for parts to keep other recipients' cars on the road.
Will I know who receives my car?
With the recipient's consent, yes. We share the story of the family whose life your gift changed. Many of our donors say this is the part they didn't expect.
What if I do not have the title?
It is not a dead end. Texas has a process for requesting a duplicate title and we will walk you through it. Start the form anyway and tell us where things stand.
